Is Bam Bam Boom a failed Game?
Or are the negative reviews just purely nonsensical and biased (because its a Web3 Game?)
I played @OhBabyGames newest game for 75 minutes to find out and here’s my honest (and unbiased) Review about it:
Ps: I would Rank the overall features from S – D
with S being excellent and D being a fail.
Gameplay/Mechanics (Rank: D)
Pretty decent. I played on a keyboard though the requirement was a gamepad. The character movements are fluid and it has many combo moves like MK.
BUT, there are no tutorials, no moves list, no custom keybinds. You are just thrown into the match to figure out everything yourself. I spent 5 minutes trying to figure out which buttons hits the enemy.
(Would have gotten a ‘C’ if it had at least keybinds list)
Visuals (Rank: C)
I tried six different maps and I really like the setting, art, and full color (some maps are mid though). The overall graphics is also decent at full resolution. But it takes a U-turn at lower resolutions.
Yes, resolutions. You cannot directly reduce the Graphics quality (Epic, Medium, Low etc) for smother gameplay. You have to reduce the Resolution in-game (e.g 1920×1080 to 1200×720). The characters then stretches to fit the screen like some fat ham. Big L.
(If you’re recording on lower res, you’ll end up with a 4:3 video sometimes)
Sound/Music (Rank: C)
I didn’t expect much from the music tbh. Its a platformer game so anything can go. But not what they added. Sounds terrible and not fitting for battle.
Again, there are no voices for the characters. While character voices aren’t necessary in-game, it is in other places like selection.

Performance (Rank: C)
I had to go back to my old Elitebook (little to no graphics card) to test the optimization. Its a 1GB Game but how lightweight is it? Here’s the answer: Not so much. Played at the lowest resolution yet it wasn’t smooth.
Even with a decent GPU, the optimization sucks. I know my ROG has overheating issues but a 1GB game shouldn’t be able to crash it. And so I had to play at a lower ahh resolution.
(Would have gotten a D but it played on my Elitebook so…)
Retention (Rank: A)
If you love platformer games or 2d games, this game is for you. If you prefer 3d games, this game might still hook you. It has Local Multiplayer. You and bro can sit on the couch and fight over a girl while y’all being in the same room.
It is also perfect for game nights because it has FFA and 1v1 modes. Noice.
(I see game nights turning into a Casino)
Value for Money (Rank: A)
Since its F2P, let’s use another currency: Your system’s storage. Is it worth keeping? Yes.
(If you need extra space, delete Microsoft Edge)
Considering that the game is still in development (maybe), I’d give it an overall C tier. The game is manageable. Moves list/keybinds would shoot it to B tier.
Overall, the game still has potential imo. If they would listen to criticism, that is.
