In 2025, the World Video
Game Hall of Fame at
The Strong National
Museum of Play in
Rochester, New York,
inducted four influential
games
Quake, Defender,
GoldenEye 007, and
Tamagotchi.
These titles were selected
for their lasting impact
on gaming and popular
culture, from Quake’s
pioneering 3D engine
and multiplayer innovation
to GoldenEye 007’s
multiplayer influence,
Defender’s arcade challenge,
and Tamagotchi’s role in
digital pet gaming.
The inductees were chosen
from a list of finalists
that also included
Age of Empires,
Angry Birds, and
Call of Duty 4
Modern Warfare.
Each game now joins
the Hall of Fame’s
permanent exhibition
celebrating video game
history.
