Recently, @createyourscape conducted an interview regarding the current progress of the project and its future. It is believed that a great work will be released in the near future. The content of the interview has been summarized briefly.
1. Company Restructuring and Progress
Merging Background: The two original companies (Lemur tech team and Scape project team) have merged into Brink to unify the technology stack (Lemur’s multiplayer online technology and Scape’s game world), simplify management structure, and improve efficiency.
Team Adjustments: The team size has been reduced from 140 to 90+ people, focusing on core development and lowering operational costs.
Goal: Concentrate resources to accelerate the development and market release of Scape, avoiding conflicts of interest and dispersed priorities.
2. Game Development Adjustments
Open World Optimization: The early version of the game had a map that was too large, causing players to feel isolated. The scale has now been reduced to enhance player interaction and cooperation.
New Directions:
Narrative-Driven: Increase engagement through community activities and events, such as competitions, rewards, and dynamic world expansions.
Phased Expansion: Gradually expand the game world based on player numbers and feedback.
Community Co-Creation: Future plans include allowing players to create content through toolkits, initially prioritizing collaboration with professional developers to ensure quality.
3. Token Economy and NFTs
Token ($SCAPE):
Use: Surrounding the project’s ecosystem (not for direct in-game use), connecting game rewards and the economic system through the Nexus platform.
Distribution: 50% through airdrops (for 300 Series, Founding Citizens holders, Nexus points), low initial market value, and multi-chain compatibility (EVM compatible, main chain is Arbitrum).
Fair Launch: Avoid VC monopolies and provide long-term incentives for community holders.
NFT Benefits:
300 Series and Founding Citizens: Token airdrops, early access to sales, exclusive in-game assets (e.g., free apartments), and narrative character binding.
Long-Term Value: Acts as a core community identity, with participation in future land sales and governance decisions.
4. Marketing Strategy and Partnerships
Asian Market: Focus on expansion, collaborating with game guilds, KOLs, and communities to leverage a highly active player base.
Exchange Plans: In talks with mainstream exchanges, but the strategy is not yet finalized (possibly phased listings to maintain growth potential).
Cross-Community Collaborations: Introduce other NFT projects to create interactive events (e.g., cross-community competitions) to enrich the game ecosystem.
5. Technical Vision
Core Goal: Build a 3D virtual world platform, similar to a “3D version of Steam,” supporting seamless switching between games and cross-game asset interoperability.
Technical Foundation: Based on Lemur server technology, supporting large-scale real-time interactions and reducing developer entry barriers.
6. Future Plans
Content Updates: Regular live streams showcasing team progress (art, development, products, etc.) to increase transparency.
Roadmap: Game testing will begin after the token release, with the specific date TBD, emphasizing quality over speed.
Community Participation: Collect feedback via Discord and live streams, with a potential future introduction of a DAO governance model.
Key Challenges:
Balancing development and community expectations: Ensure game quality while meeting player demands.
Anti-cheat and economic design: Token economy must prevent bot abuse and ensure fairness.
Scape is building an interactive and cross-game 3D virtual world through technological integration, community-driven economy, and phased content releases. Tokens and NFTs are the core incentives, with plans to deepen partner relationships and expand the ecosystem.
