Since someone asked: My Star Fox tier listed.

1) Star Fox 64
>>> I would binge the hell out of SF64 as a kid, I lost count of how many times I did a full run of the game. Of all Star Fox games, this one has my highest playtime and one of the few video games where I fully committed to 100%’ing the game.

2) Star Fox Assault
>>> As much as I have beef with some of the game’s story, it was fun. I did enjoy it and I actually had a blast playing the multiplayer with my friend group as a kid. It’s the best attempt as being a 64 successor that Nintendo has tried.

3) Star Fox
>>> The original was great, very challenging. I spent a lot of time trying and failing to beat it as a kid. Not the hardest Nintendo game out there, but a kid under 10 years old, it beat me up and took my lunch money, but I still enjoyed it. I couldn’t tell you how much time I spent playing it as a kid, but it was a lot. Of all my old SNES games, Star Fox was easily the one that spent the most time plugged into the console.

4) Star Fox 64 3D
>>> I actually didn’t sink a lot of time into this one, but it is still Star Fox 64. It’s good, solid, does everything the original did but with more polished graphics and improved multiplayer. It would be wrong to knock this one lower, as it’s a quality title even if I spent less time with it overall.

5) Star Fox Adventures
>>> A tradgey of a game, forged in the fires of development hell. It has it’s highs, but also some unfortunate lows. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for this game to launch, through 2 delays. I finally got it, and played it. I enjoyed it! But then I beat it and felt no desire to start a new game. It has very poor replay value, even though I did enjoy my first playthrough. Whatever Adventures does good, it does poorly at soemthing else. It is a very very mixed bag, a true “Your Mileage May Vary” sort of experience. It’s the only “adventures” style Star Fox, so it’s a controversial title. It is; however, the best looking Star Fox on the Gamecube. I’d say its better than Assault. Rareware really did try to give us the best game they could given the circumstances.

6) Star Fox Command
>>> At the time, I thought it was ok, apart from the terrible writing. But it’s one of those games where after you finish it and put it down, and you think a little on it, the worse your opinion gets on it. Like watching a bad movie only to talk about it with friends later and you start to notice all the things that were wrong with it, things you just can’t ignore.

7) Star Fox 2
>>> I played it for a little bit, I gave it an honest shot, but it just wasn’t for me. It’s hard to pin down why, it just wasn’t clicking with me like the original game did. My opinion of course, YMMV.

8) Star Fox Zero
>>> I played it for the first couple of missions, but I hated the controls so much. The missions themselves, the overall experience, wasn’t enough of a pull to make me play a game that was actively unfun to play. This is the only Star Fox game that actually made me feel pain.

9) Star Fox Guard
>>> I couldn’t even be bothered to turn it on. It’s a weird tower defense game, or whatever. Do not care.
