To everyone that asked:
1. Very few people are working on p2p giving. Especially the incentives part (why would anyone want to give to individuals?). Some are approaching from the p2c (peer2charity) angle but we’re approaching from the other side. Think about what drives online giving, what could make it better & more fun, and reverse engineer it.
2. Founder is learning how to build 3d multiplayer games on the web in realtime (every Reddit post says that’s a bad idea but we got somewhere!). Will admit prioritization skills need a bit of work.
3. Giving from just individuals in the US in 2024 was ~$415 billion + everyone has some level of need + increasing wealth disparity. It’s a nuanced problem but whoever cracks p2p giving wins. There’s no better time.
4. Observations: social networks, dopamine, Roblox success, appeal of free stuff, social status, and nobody has time. Make it easy to accept gifts online, make it rewarding and immersive, and make it a status game. Nobody has time to play games, must be able to accommodate both active and passive players. All I can say for now.
5. Crypto native for now, but not forever. Games are still (despite relative recent underperformance) one of the most accessible ways to onboard imo. Combine that with the simplicity of moving money with crypto and you get a game that can’t easily be replicated in web2.
6. They say “search within”. I checked and all I saw were dogs. Do with that what you will.
I have been reviewing @Colosseum hackathon submissions for the past week. My checklist: pic.twitter.com/PbewEf239k
