When I’m interested in something I dig deaper and see where it leads. This is how I became an artist. This is how I started to build 3D. This is how I came to X.

The more I dive into @OthersideMeta, the more I listen to @TheRenderPool and connect with people from the industry, the more interest and passion I feel towards the overall video game development, so you might see more game dev content on this page in the nearest future. Are you with me in this journey? 🧐

I’m not a dev myself (yet). I’m just fond of learning new things and always considered video games to be a special field of art, on the junction of art and technology.

So I was just wondering

WHAT IT TAKES TO BUILD A SUCCESSFUL VIDEO GAME?

First and foremost, in my opinion, it requires balancing creative vision, technical execution, player-focused design, market realities, and business strategy. No single factor guarantees success.👆

You should define main characteristics which would shape your game:
🔶Platform
🔶Genre
🔶Single player vs multiplayer
🔶Casual/midcore/hardcore
🔶Game concept and design
🔶Game mechanics
🔶Lore and engaging narratives
🔶Quest/reward system
🔶Game design documentation (GDD)

You should actually build:
🔵Concept Art and Look Dev – for idea and design exploration
🔵Character Art – for character models and designs (main character, mobs, NPCs, enemies)
🔵Environment Art – for landscapes and scene assets
🔵Props – for items, objects, weapons
🔵Level Design – for level layouts and maps
🔵Sound Design – for audio and music
🔵UI/UX Design – for interface elements
🔵VFX & Animation – for visual effects and animations
🔵Textures & Materials – for texture and material work
🔵Technical Art – for technical implementation
🔵Coding – for making complex systems work together

You should test:

You should plan pre-launch compaign/marketing:
