Nintendo’s #SuperMario franchise has over 200 games, but its intriguing lost project, #SuperMario64-2, was initially planned for the failed N64DD.
It was intended to include multiplayer gameplay with Luigi and Yoshi, but development ceased with the N64DD’s failure. Some elements later appeared in Super Mario Sunshine and Galaxy. Although a tech demo was shown at #Nintendo Space World 2000, it never evolved into a full game. Despite its cancellation, Super Mario 64-2 poses a fascinating “what if” for gaming history, making fans wonder how it could have influenced the 3D platforming genre.
